...remember lava lamps? If you didn't have a telly you could while away the hours watching the blobs of lava hypnotically rise and fall in their rocket shaped housing. You were so relaxed that you were now ready to perform the trickiest of surgeries in a game of Operation with the steadiest of hands and without fear of killing the patient.
For my LIM entry this week which is a sketch I've used a lava lamp image from Beyond The Fringe Crafts which I've digitally coloured and mounted on sticky pads.
The image also reminds me of a little pre-PC saying. If someone called you a 'lava lamp' you never knew whether to be flattered or hurt. It meant you were nice to look at but not very bright! Never happened to me, of course, as I obviously didn't qualify on the second part.

I remember those days haha. My daughter had a lava lamp a few years ago when they sort of come back in fashion and I used to sit watching that too (sad person I know) anyway great card loving your colours have a great weekend

Great card - I still have my original 70's lamp in the attic but am too scared by the dodgy wiring to plug it in anymore.

ReplyDeleteI have a lava lamp, sitting in my craft room, which was left by my daughter who no longer wanted it... she thought it was retro and trendy when she was at university in the 90's. Maybe I should put it on!

ReplyDeleteOoooooh Kimberley - I remember Lava lamps, as we had one when our children were young (many years ago)!! The lamps are quite mesmerising aren't they, and totally fascinating! We also had the Operation game too - oh yes, we lived life "on the edge" in those days!!
