Smile!

I think I must be suffering from a vitamin D overdose - this is my third sunshine inspired post today. I'm entering it into the CAS-ual Fridays challenge which is to create a card based on a song. I watched a TV programme earlier in the week which had a clip of Jose Feliciano on it. My parents used to have his Light My Fire LP (remember them) and, even though I was very young at the time, I used to enjoy listening to it. There are some brilliant cover versions on the album - one of which is Don't Let The Sun Catch You Crying.

The papers are snippets from an earlier card which were a freebie from 2 Peas In A Bucket and the image is from Paper Smooches. The sentiment is computer generated.

Once again have a great weekend and thanks for looking!

Jar Full Of Smiles

In line with my sunshine filled demeanour my second entry for the LIM challenge is using a free image from Cre8tive Hands which always makes me smile.

I've used all the colours from the inspiration photo for this one, added some glossy accents to the jar and decoupaged the lid. The sentiment is computer generated.

Welcome also to my new followers - have a great weekend and thanks for looking!

Camouflage Squirrel

Are you enjoying the sunshine? I don't know about you but that little yellow ball makes me feel happier even if it's a bit chilly. Today over on the LIM challenge we have a lovely spring colour combination to work with.

For my card I've used a Papersmooches image with Pink Petticoat papers in pink and pistachio. I've used a Spellbinders die for my oval frame and finished off with some teeny googly eyes.

I'm also entering my card into:

Crafty Catz - Use a digi image
Inspire Me Fridays - Anything goes
Poodles Parlour - Spots & Dots

Have a great weekend and thanks for looking!

Countdown...

... and now for today's Countdown Conundrum - doodoo doodoo doodleedo!

There's a fantastic challenge over on LIM today which is to combine any three past challenges.

I've chosen:

Week 1 [Feb 5th] Colour Pink Black & White
Week 25 [Jul 23rd] Sketch or Recipe Button or Ribbon
Week 43 [Nov 26th] Sketch or Recipe Bit of Bling

For my card I've cut out each letter several times on my Cricut and stacked each for a bit of dimension. The DP is from Pink Petticoat and I've added a little ribbon and bling to some of the letters.

Have a great weekend and thanks for looking!

Titanic Fascination

Happy Friday. I'm so excited as the mini series Titanic starts on Sunday. I've always had a fascination for this ship and after watching 'Inside The Titanic' last night I've re-read 'The Discovery Of The Titanic' today after nearly 25 years on the bookshelf. I really don't know why I'm so fascinated and the story may have something to do with my fear of open water (maybe that and the film Jaws!!).

In the book Walter Lord concludes that the mystique and appeal of the Titanic '... must be more universal, and the thought occurs that the Titanic is the perfect example of something we can all relate to: the progression of almost any tragedy in our lives from initial disbelief to growing uneasiness to final, total awareness. We are all familiar with this sequence, and we watch it unfold again and again on the Titanic - always in slow motion'.

Anyway that's not until Sunday. Today, on a cheerier note, I'm entering the Coffee, Chocolate & Cards Challenge which is fancy folds.

For my Easter card I've used Pink Petticoat Just Daisies paper in a lovely ocean colour. The bunny is from Pink Petticoat Big Hugs and has been paper-pieced using PP Big Dots. I've used an SVG file for the greenery and added a fluffy pom-pom for the bunny's cotton tail.

I'm also entering my card into the following challenges:

Bloggers - Easter
Crafty Ann's - Spring/Easter
Crafty Catz - Spring
Our Craft Lounge - Spring
Pattie's Creations - Anything Goes
Sweet n' Sassy Digi Challenge - Spring

Have a great day and thanks for looking!

Old Poop Quiz

Here is a little 'Old Poop' quiz for today - count all the ones that you remember, not the ones you were told about and then find out your rating at the bottom.

Do you remember:

1. Sweet cigarettes
2. Coffee shops with juke boxes
3. Home milk delivery in glass bottles
4. Party lines on the telephone
5. Newsreels before the film
6. TV test card patterns that came on at night after the last show and were there until TV shows started again.
7. Peashooters
8. 78 rpm records
9. 45 RPM records
10. Hi-fi's
11. Metal ice trays with levers
12. Blue flashbulbs
13. Cork popguns
14. Wash tub wringers

If you remembered 0-3 = You’re still young
If you remembered 3-6 = You are getting older
If you remembered 7-10 = Don't tell your age
If you remembered 11-14 = You're positively ancient

I of course don't remember any of the above!

Have a great day whatever your age!

Cheery News!

I was in the top 3 for the C.R.A.F.T. Challenge for this card and here is my little badge to prove it:

It's just like being back in the Girl Guides - thankfully I only have short arms therefore my little winners badges won't look lonely!!!

Have a great day!

Interesting Facts For Today

I received this today and decided to share the edited version (some of it was a bit rude!). I hope it enriches your day!

If you yelled for 8 years, 7 months and 6 days you would have produced enough sound energy to heat one cup of coffee.

(Hardly seems worth it.)

If you pooped consistently for 6 years and 9 months, enough gas is produced to create the energy of an atomic bomb.

(Now that's more like it!)

The human heart creates enough pressure when it pumps out to the body to squirt blood 30 feet.

(O.M.G.!)

A cockroach will live nine days without its head before it starves to death.

(Creepy)

Banging your head against a wall uses 150 calories an hour.

(Don't try this at home; maybe at work.)

The flea can jump 350 times its body length. It's like a human jumping the length of a football field.

(Amazing)

The catfish has over 27,000 taste buds.

(What could be so tasty on the bottom of a pond?)

Butterflies taste with their feet.

(Something I always wanted to know.)

The strongest muscle in the body is the tongue.

(Hmmmmmm .......)

Right-handed people live, on average, nine years longer than left-handed people.

(If you're ambidextrous, do you split the difference?)

Elephants are the only animals that cannot jump.

(Okay, so that would be a good thing.)

A cat's urine glows under a black light.

(I wonder how much the government paid to figure that out.)

An ostrich's eye is bigger than its brain.

(I know some people like that.)

Starfish have no brains.

(I know some people like that, too.)

Polar bears are left-handed.

(If they switch, they'll live a lot longer.)

Have a great day!

Thank You!

OMG!

My body has obviously been overtaken by aliens! I started to make a card for my favourite LIM challenge (masking theme) and came up with this:

What kind of cutesy alien has inhabited me? Will I ever be able to exorcise it and return to my normal self? Time will tell.

Anyway, the alien has used two Penny Black stamps, paper pieced with Basic Grey Two Scoops paper, coloured with Faber Castell watercolour pencils and a little Craftwork Cards Card Candy paper brad.

I'm also entering my card into:

Basic Grey - Mother's Day/Girly
Penny Black Saturday Challenge - Anything goes
Love to Create - Anything Goes
Make it Monday - Anything Goes

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

What Time Is It?

It's crafting time! Here is a little card I made to wish someone luck in their new home.

I've used a SVG file from The Cutting Cafe to make the clock shaped card I've had this file for over a year and never used it - despite it being something that I had to have when I bought it! Everything else is from my stash.

2 Sisters - Spots and Dots
Crazy 4 Challenges - Use some Green
C.R.A.F.T. - House, New Home or House Warming
Little Miss Muffet Challenges - Easel, shaped or step card
Ditzy Craftymess - Buttons or Anything Goes

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Ee Bah Gum?

Well this is shaping into a day of firsts I'm entering the By Lori Designs which is a colour challenge.

I've used a Bosenberries freebie image which (I can't quite believe) I've coloured with Faber Castell watercolour pencils and added a little glitter. Not very good I know but I suppose all this shading malarkey comes with practice. The DP from Pink Petticoat Big Dots is a scrap as is the pink layer behind. The sentiment is computer generated again onto a scrap (I'm soooooo green!).

This image reminds me of a little money bank I got for Christmas as a child which when you put your penny in you got a miniature bar of Cadbury's chocolate out - I loved it!

I'm also entering my card into:

Snippet Playground
Bloggers - Birthday
Poodles Parlour - Anything goes
Sweet n Sassy Digi Challenge - Green

Thanks for looking and have a great weekend!

Shoes Glorious Shoes

Happy Friday! I think this may be the first time I've entered the CAS-ual Friday challenge (maybe not it's hard to keep up) which this week is nice and easy:

'CFC44: It's as Easy as 1-2-3 Create a Clean And Simple project using

1. A Pattern
2. An Image
3. A Sentiment
Sound easy? Remember to keep it CAS!'

My entry is a card for my Mother's Day card for this Sunday.

Every required element on this card is from Pink Petticoat - the image and sentiment from Mini Diva Doodles and the DP's are from Lola's Boudoir. I've added a punched Fiskars border and a little glitter to my roses on those fabby shoes.

I'm also entering my card into:

Creative Belli - Clean and simple
Gingersnap Creations - Border punches
Papertake Weekly - For the girls or mum

Thanks for looking and have a great weekend!

Eureka

I was about to throw in the towel and not participate in my favourite LIM challenge this week. The challenge is neutrals and I really struggled. However just like Archimedes who discovered displacement after a visit to the smallest room in the house - I got my inspiration from the trim tiles in my bathroom.

I was overjoyed to have found this inspiration and unlike Archimedes resisted the temptation to run through the streets of my town naked to proclaim my triumph.

I've used pearlescent, kraft and silver card throughout and added a metal birthday tag. I'm not sure if I like the result - it would maybe do a male birthday card - but at least I get my weekly LIM fix as a result.

Thanks for looking and have a great weekend!
